BC Rail: Listen to the public, no. Manipulate the media?

There has been a lot of accusations about media manipulation over the BC Rail deal. But it is important to remember the number of people outraged over the broken promise on BC Rail.
Over 32,000 people signed a petition to the BC Legislature opposing the sale of BC Rail. Over 200 businesses signed on to full page newspaper ads calling on Gordon Campbell to keep his promise and not sell BC Rail. More than a dozen city councils voted against the sale of BC Rail. Liberal Cabinet Minister, Pat Bell's former campaign manager led a campaign against the sale of BC Rail. Ousted Liberal MLA Paul Nettleton was critical of the sale.
Of course, the sale had its supporter - Liberal/Conservative floor crosser David Emerson comes to mind.
